Luck in Ireland was never abstract - it grows out of soil, out of the rare fourth leaf on a stem built for three. Jade Green I works from that same logic: luck as something structural, found only by looking closely enough to notice what breaks the pattern.
Working with palette knife and a small fruit knife for the roses, I close the trilogy with the quietest canvas of the three. Where the first held jade's promise of permanence and the second refused to settle at all, this one sits between pale roses caught mid-opening against a green that shifts from near-black to lit, depending on where the light finds it.
The work completes my exploration of color as cultural memory - jade's endurance, green's return, and now luck's refusal to follow a rule. My work lives in the space between control and its absence - visible here in branches that were given direction and nothing more.
Jade Green II and III were conceived as a diptych and hang naturally as a pair. I built Jade Green I to complete them: hung between the two, it turns the pair into a triptych without disrupting either composition.
