Confetti Season - 80 × 60 × 2 cm / 31.5 × 23.6 × 0.8 in
When did you last celebrate something for no particular reason?
I paint presence, and sometimes presence arrives as celebration. Here a single branch bursts across a pale sky-blue ground, carrying red, cobalt, violet, lime and soft pink petals all at once, as if every colour had been invited to the same afternoon.
Up close, each petal is a separate gesture of the palette knife: thick, glossy, catching the light along its ridges. Behind them, green and yellow haze opens into clear air. At the tip of the branch a few petals have already broken free and drift away, light as confetti thrown into the wind.
The painting works in both orientations. Hung horizontally, the branch stretches across the wall like a garland. Hung vertically, it rises like a bouquet tossed into the air. I leave that choice to the person who lives with it.
Celebration does not need a date on the calendar. Sometimes it is enough that something is in bloom.
At 80 × 60 cm it suits a hallway, a reading corner or the wall above a sideboard, and because it can hang either way, it adapts to the space rather than the other way round.
